MARK RAVERA, PHD, MBA

Founder and CBO

Trained as a discovery research scientist, Mark has 20+ years of experience in business development, licensing and forecasting.  
Much of his work has been cross-border, working with and for companies in the US, EU, Korea, China and India.
He has worked with pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology companies and investors to guide business and portfolio strategies and to implement licensing initiatives as a key component of those strategies.

AMEENA MOGHE, MS, MBA

Ameena is a pharmaceutical business leader with 20+ years of experience in marketing and new product commercialization of specialty drugs and medical devices. She has led teams in both large and mid-sized pharmaceutical companies, focusing on strategic brand planning and commercial assessments of new products. Her expertise includes new product launches, product turn-arounds and creating new markets through marke­­­t shaping and product positioning.

MARK PIERCE, PHD

CTO

Mark is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University. He received his PhD from the University of Manchester (UK) for work studying interactions between infrared lasers and biological tissues.  He completed postdoctoral training at Massachusetts General Hospital and at Rice University before joining Rutgers in 2011. His expertise is in the design and development of optical imaging systems for biomedical applications.

JAY SHAH, PHD

R&D/Process Development Head

Jay earned his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University working in the laboratory where this contrast imaging nanotechnology was invented. His dissertation research explored the application of the nanotechnology to non-invasively monitor therapy responses in murine cancer models. He is a multidisciplinary scientist with expertise in the design and development of functionalized nanoparticles.

RICHARD RIMAN, PHD

Materials Science

Richard Riman, PhD is a Distinguished Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Rutgers University.
 

He is a co-inventor of this contrast imaging nanotechnology. He is a globally recognized academic entrepreneur, who was elected to the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). His work in rare-earth doped materials, materials processing and thermochemistry has created a suite of patents (200 patents and applications).

STEVEN K LIBUTTI, MD, FACS

Surgical Oncology

Steven Libutti, MD is the Director, Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey and Professor of Surgery, Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School

He has dedicated his career to the advancement of regional and targeted cancer therapy and he is a recognized expert in endocrine surgery and in the management of neuroendocrine tumors and gastrointestinal malignancies. His research focuses on developing novel cancer therapies through an understanding of the tumor microenvironment. 

 

He has received funding from both the intramural and extramural National Cancer Institute (NCI) since 1996. He has authored over 280 peer reviewed journal articles, holds seven U.S. patents, and is the recipient of both NCI and National Institutes of Health Director’s Awards.

VIDYA GANAPATHY, PHD

Cancer Biology

Vidya Ganapathy, PhD is the Research Program Director at Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation and a member of the Graduate Faculty at Rutgers University.

 

While she was a full-time faculty member in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers, she focused on tumor biology, pharmacology and developing murine models of cancer. Her research was centered on SWIR-emitting nanoprobes in the context of tumor imaging and she was responsible for the design and implementation of the animal models that have validated this technology.

 

She was a key member of the NanoInk team that worked through NIH, NSF and UC Berkeley entrepreneurial training and business accelerator programs.

MEI-CHEE TAN, PHD

Process Engineering

Mei-Chee Tan, PhD is currently an Associate Professor with the department of Engineering Product Development at the Singapore University of Technology and Design.  She has extensive experience in synthesis, modification and characterization of optical nanomaterials with controlled sizes and morphologies for biomedical applications and energy-efficient illuminators.

 

Her multifunctional composite research group adopts an interdisciplinary approach to spearhead the development of innovation engineering production solutions that are founded on sound scientific principles.  With the comprehensive studies and engineering of tailored interfaces using solution methods, advanced multifunctional composites have been designed to address the wicked challenges in the fields of minimally-invasive biomedical imaging and carbon dioxide removal in urban environments.

ALI BEHROOZ, PHD

Imaging Hardware & User Interfaces

Ali Behrooz, PhD has over 10 years of R&D experience in clinical and preclinical imaging, building disruptive platforms and bringing complex technologies to market.

 

He has held technical and engineering leadership roles at numerous prominent biotech companies including Google/Verily Life Sciences and PerkinElmer, where he led the development of in vivo imaging technologies such as IVIS Spectrum and AccuCT.

 

He received his PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology for his work on multiplexed fluorescence tomography. He is a named inventor and author on multiple patents and peer-reviewed publications and has been recognized for his contributions to award-winning products in life sciences.
